ALESANA – The Emptiness

By: Natalie Perez

Standing before a sold-out show out in Helsinki, Finland, Alesana, comprised of frontman/vocalist Dennis Lee, vocalist/guitarist Shawn Milke, guitarist Patrick Thompson, drummer Jeremy Bryan, bassist Shane Crump, and guitarist Jake Campbell, each of the six members stood in awe as they reflected back on the last five years of having been together. A nostalgic Dennis asked his fellow comrades “Remember our first practice space?” Adding gleefully “Look how far we have come. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m about to rock the faces off a bunch of Finnish kids. Let’s do this!” Slanted to unleash their third album to date, “The Emptiness”, Alesana surly devoted time and energy – let alone their international fanbase will be clearly a back-up of why they are here today.

“The Emptiness”, immediately leaves off where their previous counter partners had done (On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax) along with the follow-up (Where Myth Fades To Legend) hence this third additional truly brings out Alesana’s style with utter remorse. Building up to each and every bridge notable, this dynamic, emotionally charged up album has these three guitar structures fighting it out to the very finish. For instance “The Murderer”, and “The Lover”, push out that adrenaline absolution that Alesana is known to deliver. While “The Lover”, takes down the music just a notch or two but the music remains to still impact because of the use of the lyrics that are backing it all up.
When listening to “The Emptiness” – it simply just fills in all the gaps all at once.

  1. This review tells me nothing about the music

  2. i have to say this is an amazing cd :)

  3. Thrash ratchet was right so i checked out them out myself, it was a waste of time!!! She probably didnt mention the music because this is not metal, if I had to review them I would not have nice things to say. Natalie probably took her mothers advice “if you dont have anyting nice to say dont say anyting at all”

  4. this album is amazing, the way it all fits together
