From the Obsidian Throne

As way of introduction, I am Isiamon of the US black metal band Immolith. I’ve been invited by Metal Maniacs to spread the plague of underground metal, and I intend to do so to the fullest.

While Immolith is a relatively young band, existing in its present form for just under two years, I am not.  I was introduced to metal at young age way back in the 80’s by a great friend, and one of the most pure metal heads I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, Curt Meisner.  Curt left this world and became one with the eternal chaos a few years back, but I still remember the first compilation tape he had given me that started my lifelong passion for metal.  It included tracks by bands like Mercyful Fate, Exciter, Accept, and Metallica.  I was there for the rise of thrash metal, death metal, and black metal.  The first metal show I attended was Venom, Overkill and Black Flag.  I was stoked when Metal Maniacs was brought back to life here online, as I remember growing up with the print version.  I was even more pleased when I found out that Metal Maniacs described their vision of this new site as a place to shed light on deserving underground real metal, and not the same five bands you can read about on every other metal site and publication out there.  My warbrother Mike Abominator, of Gravehill, is doing a great job of flying the banner of old school death metal here on Metal Maniacs, and it’ll be my job to do the same for underground old school Black Metal.   If you are expecting news about bands like Dimmu Borgir, or whatever it is King ov Hell is doing these days, you are in the wrong place.  So with that in  mind I’ll be bringing you an interview with Xaphan, guitarist and vocalist of legendary US Black Metal heretics Kult ov Azazel shortly so keep an eye out for that.  Interviews and the propaganda of other bands and labels that I hold in regard will follow as often as time allows.   In Blood, Isiamon of Immolith.
