BEYOND “RELENTLESS ABOMINATION VORTEX”. 2011 DEMO.

By: Mike Abominator

This fucker was one of the highlights of the year in 2011. These German maniacs caused quite a stir in the underground with this masterpiece of death noise. It fucking sounds like it was made back in 1988. It is total death metal, but more in the vein of the Treblinka/early Tiamat, Morbid(Swe) and Grotesque. I can hear some of the very early Therion demo influence in here as well. It has a creepy feel overall with the sound and production. The bass has some weird elements to it and rumbles along on it’s own path at times, which adds to the evil and dark feel to this demo. I like the intros to each song. There are some killer black metal parts in the ancient Bathory way that I also like. And there are some black/thrashy parts that remind me of Nifelheim. And some of the straight forward parts remind me of Hellhammer/Frost a little. There are 3 songs on here, all done in the necro and bloody way of raw black death. I think fans of the Swedish gods Kill would also dig Beyond. And although the sound here is totally raw as fuck, the band is not messy or sloppy. Take a listen to the last song “Whirlwinds of Chaotic Carnage” and you will hear total controlled chaos. And these guys can play their weapons. This is a true death metal demo in the old way of the late 80s underground! This isn’t an official demo put out by the band, rather a “demo” released by a record label. There are no contact sites to get a hold of Beyond. So try getting it at Dark Descent Records. This is a killer demo, done by a band with TONS of potential. Highly recommended!
