DEUS OTIOSUS “MURDERER”. 2011 F.D.A. REKOTZ.

These Danish maniacs come from other bands like Cerekloth, Victimizer, Church Bizarre and Hideous Invasion. They formed Deus Otiosus as a tribute to the olden death metal of the 80s and early 90s. There is an over all mid paced stomp on here. The band never gets super fast or super slow. It is pretty much mid paced with some faster and slower stuff here and there. There is a thrashy vibe throughout that I like. It mixes the really old, simple as fuck, early death metal really well with some of the “heavier” stuff later on through those early 90s classics. There is an American influence here, like a little Florida and some early New York/New Jersey style. At times, there is a black thrash vibe, like on my favorite song “Ye Pigs of Little Faith”. This one has a nice old Slayer feel during the faster thrash parts, and some early Obituary reminders during some of the slower parts. Killer song. The album as a whole is not as “heavy” or “crushing”(as I like to say) as far as the guitar sound and production. But it IS death metal in it’s rawest and total straight forward form. The vocals are actually very heavy and extreme, but also very well done. Reminds me of Vomitory or Nominon in that department. I would say that fans of Master and Massacre will especially like this band. And although they might not be as “heavy” as Asphyx, they have a similar approach with the way the songs unfold. When I say “not as heavy”, I’m not knocking Deus Otiosus. I actually like the way they sound and their songs. They could have very easily just gone for the same Swedish guitar sound as a lot of other bands are doing. But they wanted to go their own route of death. F.D.A. Rekotz is slowly becoming quite a great label these days with high quality heavy metal releases!
