VIVA ESPANIA! This place is becoming the next death metal capital. MORBID FLESH sound like a cross between ASPHYX and Swedish death metal. Is this up your alley of blood? Then GET THIS ALBUM NOW! Traditional death metal that has the late 80s vibe to the style and sound. These maniacs had me sold with their great “Dying Lapidadtion” demo back in 2009. You get 2 songs from that demo, re-recorded and updated. And then the newer stuff like the great title track and other newer songs like the mighty “Visions of Mutilated Ghouls”. The pace can get down and dirty slow, and that is when the band reminds me of Asphyx. The singer Vali especially has some Van Drunen type shrieks of terror. But they can also get raw and mid paced with the attack and also fast and ripping with the blazing fast parts. The production fits the band well and has an evil and overall old school vibe to it. Every song is great actually! Quite impressive for a debut. Even the 9 minute dirges of the album closer “Walking With the Dead” don’t get boring. There are plenty of awesome time changes and it can shift from skank beats to doom without missing a deadly beat. The sound is heavy as fuck, especially the guitars. It has the Swedish guitar sound, just with a darker tinge to it. The whole packaging and cover art is also killer. It all fits great into one big, sloppy, rotting death metal package. It took me a while to review this! Shit, it came out a year ago, but I HAD to get it in here! One of the greats of 2011 that not many had heard of! ESSENTIAL!
