POISONOUS “PERDITION’S DEN”. 2011 GOCIDE PRODUCTIONS.

By: Mike Abominator

This is some pretty killer death metal from the enchanted lands of Brazil. Not far removed from other South American and Mexican dark death metal bands. There is a Acheron influence. And I hear some Obituary, Asphyx and old Master influences as well. Maybe a little bit of old Immolation too. It’s cool regardless and has a deadly sound and atmosphere to it. At times the band can get all out blasting with some older Morbid Angel type parts with total speed and intensity. They often come out of nowhere like the opening song “Subterranean Rules”. The production takes BIG advantage of the old school sound of Poisonous. It sounds as if it could have been recorded in the late 80s/early 90s. The pace goes from a faster ripping and banging one, to a more slow and evil, doomy vibe, without skipping a deadly beat. There is no better example of this than with the awesome death banger “Black Clouds and Fever”. Dark as fuck riffs that slowly rip the scalp off your head, mix with pulverizing skank beats that then go into blazing fast blast beats of terror. If you can track this one down, and are a fan of some killer death metal done with brutal conviction, and done in an ancient and evil manner, then get this album now!
